MESSAGE FROM THE AMBASSADOR OF GHANA IN ZIMBABWE,
H.E. MR. E. ODOI-ANIM, TO GHANAIANS IN ZIMBABWE
On behalf of the Ghana Embassy in Harare and on my behalf, I extend warm and heartfelt greetings to you and your families.
Fellow Ghanaians. I believe you ore all aware of the ongoing global health crisis triggered by the Corona Virus (COVID-19) and the ensuing panic, anxiety, and concern it has generated in the global Community.
Ghana, our dear country, like other nations has confirmed cases of COVID-19. Unfortunate, as the situation is, that is the reality Ghana has to contend with,
Fortunately. His Excellency President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has taken decisive steps to confront the Corona Virus menace, the safety and protection of the Ghanaian Population being his primary focus.
I am certain that most of you have followed with intense interest, the steps taken by H.E. the President, which steps include closing Ghana’s borders, an initial fourteen-day lockdown, the procurement of Personal Protection Equipment, availability of meals for the vulnerable, during the period of the lockdown. Provision of free winter for o period of three months, Reduction of tariffs for electricity consumption for a specified period, and the quarantine/isolation of suspected and /or confirmed cases.
Additionally. Health facilities are being adapted in the country to enable such institutions handle related issues such as Testing and the admission of citizens confirmed to have been infected with the virus. Other necessary logistics and policies to enhance the capability of the Health Sector have been provided under the Leadership of H.E, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akuf0-Addo.
Fellow countrymen/women, it is also a heartbreaking reality that the disease has reared its ugly head in our host country, Zimbabwe. The steps taken by Host Authorities. I believe, are known to you all.
I implore you to be extra-mindful of your personal security in these stressful times, and to observe without reservation all rules and protocols put in place by Host Authorities to tackle COVID-19 and halt its spread.
The Embassy, though closed temporary for protection of its staff, remains open to you all through telephone numbers of staff members, which are available to you, as well as through other media platforms on which the Mission is represented, When there is the need to contact the Embassy, please do not hesitate to do so.
While we praise our Maker, for his protection so far and exercise our faith and trust in his promises to His children, let us continue to apply ourselves in wisdom and tact ourselves as we deal with the challenges of COVID-19.
